1. Using Task Manager in Windows



  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc simultaneously to open the Task Manager.

  2. In the Task Manager window, under the Processes tab, locate the application you want to force close.

  3. Click on the application to select it.

  4. Click the End Task button at the bottom right corner of the Task Manager window.


The application should close immediately if it does not, repeat the steps.

Note: If the desired app is not listed in the 'Processes tab, also check in the 'Details' tab.






2. Using Activity Monitor on a Mac Computer.

  1. Open Activity Monitor by searching for it using Spotlight (Command (⌘) + Space) or navigating to Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor.

  2.  In the Activity Monitor window, you can find the application you want to force close, from each tab like CPU, Memory, Energy, Disk and Network. Additionally, the application can be searched from the search icon on the upper right corner of the 'Activity Monitor'.

  3. Select the application and click the Stop button (an "X" icon) in the top left corner of the window.

  4. In the dialog box that appears, click Force Quit.

  5. The application should close immediately.
